Ferrari invite likely to be for updated FF

The Ferrari [NYSE:RACE] FF is now the oldest Prancing Horse in the stable but work on an updated version has been underway for some time. Now, it appears the reveal of the updated FF is coming soon.

Ferrari recently sent an invite for the world premiere of a V-12 grand tourer with 2+2 seating, which points to us the updated FF. A few glimpses of the soon-to-be revealed car suggest the headlights have been tweaked and some new vents and metal strakes added. These minimal  updates, at least to the styling, are confirmed in our spy shots of prototypes wearing barely any camouflage gear.

The reveal will take place February 15 at the famous Villa Erba, on the shores of Lake Como. A world debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show two weeks later is likely.

It was in Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ [NYSE:FCAU] five-year strategy announcement made in 2014 where it was revealed that Ferrari planned to give its cars a lifespan of about eight years, with a significant update, or Modificato, after the first four years. The FF has been on sale since the 2012 model year so the car is just about due for its update.

The few solid details we have on the updated FF is that the will stick with its naturally aspirated 6.3-liter V-12 but have an output close to 700 horsepower instead of the current 651-hp rating. The car will also maintain its 4RM all-wheel-drive system, albeit with revisions to enhance performance.

While you await the reveal, learn about some of the other cars debuting at the Geneva Motor Show over at our dedicated hub. The Swiss show starts March 1.
