Chevrolet Monte Carlo name was revived for the 1994 model year, with the car going on
General Motors’ versatile front-wheel-drive
W platform. When the
sixth-generation Monte Carlo debuted for the 2000, the
Chevrolet Division produced a special NASCAR-themed Pace Car Edition of the
Monte Carlo SS. Red with checkered-flag graphics and a lurid red-and-black-leather interior, this was one racy-looking Monte. This example, though, has fallen on hard times and washed up in a Denver self-service wrecking yard.
Just 2,222 of these cars were made for 2000.
This one appears to have received some additional graphics, courtesy of one of its pre-junkyard owners.
Someone with a regular 2000-2005 Monte Carlo may decide to buy these cool-looking leather seats, for a low-cost interior upgrade.
The Tasmanian Devil decal was factory-installed, of course.
