That’s because it has transitioned to a life as a storm chaser, as part of a $13 million project funded by the National Science Foundation. Now stationed at Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport in Oklahoma, the jet, formally known as the A-10 Thunderbolt II, is currently being refit for its new role.
